There is one thing that seems to be a universal experience for American’s (used colloquially) during their youth. It was learning about Helen Keller. The deaf blind woman that was a symbol of perseverance overcoming massive variables all encapsulated in that weird Water Scene.
Do you know what happened to Helen Keller?
Do you know who Helen Keller was outside of the ‘disability’ that has been colloquially used to define her.
Helen Keller was a Socialist.
As she began to expound her socialist ideologies the press began to turn on her, as she would become a victim of the imperialist propaganda machine. It is a fascinating parallel in how our systems of oppression silence and subjugate dissent in all its forms. We know that Colonization and Capitalism need racism to otherize classes to exploit their labor, exploit their data, their I.P to enrich the predominately white upper class.
We have no doubt that the proliferation of technology will expedite our race between authoritarianism and decolonization.
We must remember that our ideology may not be new but our ability to connect with the others that feel the same way, but can’t put a name to it. We are entering a time where we can push the zeitgeist forward in real ways.
